  • My Story

This is something I decided to work towards in November 2018, after I discovered professional boxer and European champion Joe Hughes.

I have Erbs Palsy in my right arm and Joe Hughes has the same condition as myself and many others around the world. Not only did this straight away inspire me but it made me believe in myself and that nothing is impossible. All my life I was told I couldn't do anything physical due to the disability but this showed me that I could!

Erb’s Palsy, also known as Brachial Plexus Paralysis, is a condition which mainly due to birth trauma can affect 1 or all of the 5 primary nerves that supply the movement and feeling to an arm. Each baby’s injury is individual. For many people this is a life-long disability which can affect the mobility and function of their arm, and impact upon their daily life.

However, since I started boxing I am already feeling the difference in my right arm every day. It is stronger, has more accessibility, and I rarely feel the strain I used to have doing every day things. I am taking part in this event because I feel it is important for other people to see the help that boxing has provided me. So please donate to Erbs Palsy Group who do fantastic work raising awareness and supporting families around the world.
